About the Role
Reports To: School Relations Specialist
External Relationships: Students, Parents, Guardians, Teachers, Administrators
Purpose: The purpose of this role is to provide speech and language therapy services in a school setting. This position can be in person (depending on the location of the therapist), remote via teletherapy/telehealth, and/or a combination of teletherapy and in person.
Responsibilities:
- Provide and deliver direct therapy and consultation services to students identified with disabilities in articulation, receptive and expressive language, fluency, pragmatics and/or voice disorders
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for students utilizing evidence-based practices
- Conduct screenings, assessments, and evaluations to identify students who qualify for speech and language services; interpret results accurately
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other required documents as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
- Collaboratively work as part of the special education team to develop and implement appropriate goals, therapeutic interventions, and supports
- Act as case manager in special education process, when necessary
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support students' needs and progress
- Regularly evaluate and document student progress, adjusting therapy goals, objectives and supports as appropriate
- Other responsibilities as needed/assigned, within the scope of the speech-language pathologist role as defined by the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association (ASHA)

Pay:
$40.00 - $55.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience

22 – 30 per week

Requirements
Qualifications:
- Licensed SLP in the State of Michigan (REQUIRED)
- Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
- Maintains ASHA CCC's certification
Knowledge & Experience:
- Minimum of one year experience as an SLP in schools providing direct individual and group therapy, completing IEPs according to MI laws
- Experience working on an IFSP/IEP team
- Experience managing a Special Education caseload
- Experience administering and accurately interpreting tests and measurements to screen, evaluate, and diagnose speech and language disorders for students referred for special education, as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
- Ability to balance multiple demands and prioritize activities to meet deadlines
- Skilled in organizing and maintaining a system for accurate and complete record-keeping
- Knowledge of special education law in regard to therapy services provided
